Bruce Bayley joins SPP as Education Partner this week, bringing another 18 years of Education and Government sector experience to SPP.
Ben Apted, who spearheads the busy national Education team, says Bruce’s appointment will complement SPP’s strengths and bring a greater focus on the things that matter most to clients. “Bruce will concentrate most of his effort on our work in the higher education, vocational and schools sectors. He has a proven track record in navigating complex initiatives including role clarity, how they interact with the students, and deliver a strong service offering.”
Bruce brings an extensive knowledge of the evolving online education space; a deep understanding of innovation and commercialisation, hands-on expertise leading significant aspects of the University of Melbourne’s operations; a strong understanding of doing business in Asia through establishing operations in these markets; and, direct experience in the vocational education sector.
Ben continues – “As SPP seeks to embed deeper partnerships with our clients, their appetite for innovation, digital, and analytics requires us to continue to innovate ourselves. Likewise, as our clients seek a stronger international profile, expertise that Bruce brings in establishing international education businesses within our region will enhance our ability to meet customer needs.”
Bruce has built strong knowledge, skills and connections in the Education and Government sectors and is highly-regarded by peers and clients. Over the course of his eight years at the University of Melbourne, he held positions including Director of Strategy and Commercialisation and VP International. He was involved in the strategy and implementation of a number of major initiatives including the establishment of University of Melbourne Commercial, Melbourne University Private, the Melbourne Model as well as playing a key role as a consultant and then interim CEO in the bid to government which resulted in the establishment of Asialink Business program, which is now a major professional networks and training platform for Australian senior executives.

Bruce will bring together his substantial functional knowledge of education coupled with his commercial experience working in senior executive roles”.
Bruce has also worked with other tier 1 consultancies including the Boston Consulting Group, with Big 4 and other Accounting firms, and counts his work in the Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority amongst some of his proudest achievements. Bruce has held a number of Non-Executive Director positions and he has a Bachelor of Engineering and MBA from Melbourne Business School.
